Chat, Assist, Help and Support in VS Code

The KODEO panel in VS Code — the room's chat, KODEO Assist, the whole Help Center and your support tickets in four tabs, next to the terminal or beside your code.

Four tabs in one panel, in VS Code's Panel area (next to the terminal and problems):

Chat

The room's chat — the same messages as the browser editor, kept seven days.

  • A presence strip on top shows who's here, in which editor, and who's typing.
  • Messages are grouped by person and day. Enter sends, Shift+Enter adds a line.
  • Type @ and the project's members appear — ↑/↓ and Enter pick one. The person you mention is notified.
  • A message shows the moment you send it. If it can't be sent it says Not sent · Retry — it's never lost. Your draft stays when you switch tabs.
  • A message that arrives while the chat isn't on screen badges the Chat tab and pops up (setting KODEO › Room Messages). Alt+J opens the chat.

Assist

KODEO Assist, the same as on every page of KODEO. See KODEO Assist in VS Code.

  • Answers stream in, cite the Help articles they come from, and offer buttons for things KODEO can do (create a ticket, open billing…).
  • Past conversations (the clock button) — the last 30 days, the same as in the browser; open one to carry on, or delete it.
  • New conversation (the plus button) starts fresh. Alt+A opens Assist.

Help

The whole Help Center, searched as you type — the search runs in VS Code with the Help Center's own engine, so nothing is sent while you type.

  • Filter by category with the chips; ↑/↓ and Enter open a result.
  • Articles open right in the panel, with their sections, tips and tables. Links to other articles open there too.
  • Ask Assist about this and Open in the browser are in the article's header; Was this helpful? records your vote (once per person, the same vote as in the browser).
  • The Help tab works signed out. KODEO: Search Help… jumps straight to it.

Support

Your support tickets — the same as /tickets on kodeo.website.

  • New ticket: what it's about, a subject and what happened. The priority is suggested from your words. VS Code attaches its state — which editor, whether you're live, the extension's version — never files, code or errors. Add screenshots or logs in the browser (Add files in the browser).
  • Open a ticket to read the conversation, reply, Mark solved or Reopen, and rate the help once it's solved.
  • A reply from the KODEO team pops up in VS Code and badges the Support tab.

Put it where you like

  • Beside your code: drag the KODEO tab from the Panel to the Secondary Side Bar (View → Appearance → Secondary Side Bar). VS Code remembers where you put it.
  • As an editor tab: the button in the panel's corner opens the current tab as an editor tab — as wide as you like. KODEO: Open Chat in an Editor Tab does it for the chat.

Everything in the panel is drawn as text — never HTML — under a strict content policy, whoever wrote it.
