Git & GitHub
The project's Git from the CLI
kodeo git and kodeo pr act on the project's Git on KODEO — staging, commits with co-authors, branches, merges, the commit graph, blame, GitHub sync and pull request reviews.
kodeo git works on the project's repository on KODEO — the same one Source Control uses in the browser and in VS Code. It's not the real git in a folder cloned from git.kodeo.website (that's ordinary Git with KODEO as its remote).
Everyday
kodeo git status
kodeo git stage --all # or: kodeo git stage src/app.ts
kodeo git commit -m "Fix the cart total"
kodeo git push- Staging is yours — teammates' staged files show as a note, never in your commit.
- Co-authors — people who edited the files you're committing are offered as co-authors.
- Secrets — a commit that looks like it contains a secret is stopped first;
--with-secretscommits anyway. - Branch rules — if the default branch needs a pull request (or only admins may commit to it), you're told before the commit.
Branches
kodeo git branch # local branches (--all adds GitHub's)
kodeo git branch --create feature/login
kodeo git switch main
kodeo git branch --rename old new
kodeo git branch --delete oldSwitching moves the project to that branch for everyone; changes left on the old branch are parked and come back when you return.
Merges and conflicts
kodeo git merge feature/login
kodeo git merge --theirs src/app.ts # or --ours, --both
kodeo git commit -m "Merge feature/login"
kodeo git merge --abortConflicted files are listed. Fix them in your editor (kodeo code src/app.ts), or take one side for whole files, then commit.
History
kodeo git log --graph # a coloured commit graph of every branch
kodeo git log src/app.ts # one file's history
kodeo git blame src/app.ts # who changed each line, shaded by age
kodeo git diff --stagedLong output opens in a pager: arrows or j/k to scroll, / to find, q to close.
GitHub
kodeo git pull
kodeo git fetch --unshallow
kodeo git publish --private
kodeo git link acme/storefront
kodeo git checks # CI for the latest commit
kodeo git connect # connect your GitHub accountGitHub runs through KODEO's GitHub App — your GitHub token stays on KODEO's server, never on your computer. If GitHub isn't connected yet, kodeo opens GitHub in your browser, waits, and carries on by itself.
Pull requests
kodeo pr list

kodeo pr merge 12 --squash
kodeo pr checkout 12
kodeo pr create --title "Login page"kodeo pr review with no options asks what kind of review and lets you comment on lines of the new code, one at a time.
